Dr. Brunzell has trained 23 postdoctoral fellows in the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition at the University of Washington—19 of whom progressed into academic medicine—and has mentored 7 individuals with NIH K23 or K08 awards.
He is currently investigating dyslipidemia associated with central obesity as a predictor of cardiovascular risk, including patients with the metabolic syndrome and type 1 and 2 diabetes and those with familial forms of hypertriglyceridemia.
