Global cardiometabolic risk is defined as the risk of cardiovascular disease resulting from the presence of traditional risk factors along with features of the metabolic syndrome. Cardiometabolic risk has been shown to increase with a patient’s waist size, which highlights the importance of measuring waist circumference in clinical practice and recording it in the medical file of every patient.
